There is access to Abbots Wood car park from both directions (ie to and from Arlington and Hailsham) at Caneheath but the road is officially 'closed'. If you do drive through this 'road closed' area be aware that there are no lights around the areas where the water company is working so drive slowly and be prepared for oncoming traffic and delays during the day. This road will be 'closed' until 24th June. It's not advisable to turn into Tye Hill Lane at the 'road closed' sign as it is very narrow at the far end.
To access the village hall without driving in the 'road closed' area you need to follow the diversion signs from Hailsham direction past Michelham Priory, left towards Berwick station then take the left turn towards Arlington (shortly after going over the railway crossing).
From the Wilmington direction, take the a27 to the Drusillas roundabout, turn right towards Berwick Station then right towards Arlington

Winning Degas
The winner in our monthly competition in March 2013 was Helen Gander with this beautiful pastel picture inspired by the work of "Edgar Degas". Practically everyone at the session worked on a piece inspired by the week's 'theme' artists of Degas or Laura Knight, so there was some strong competition.
The next competition is on 9th May. Produce a piece (which you can start in advance but must work on at the session on 9th) inspired by the work or lives of "Gustav Klimt" or "Eric Ravilious".
Session fee- £5 / £2.50 AAG members.
Accompanied children half price.

I would recommend that people bring:
We would need a model, some willing person from the group would be fine
Drawing like Matisse
I would recommend that people bring:
- several sheets of paper (good cartridge is fine),
- charcoal or Conte' crayon,
- soft pencil ( nothing harder than 4b, prefererably 6b)
- and pen and ink. Pens should be dip pens and not fibre tips or biro type pens - old fountain pens can be used, or trim your own quill or reed pen. Even a piece of sharpened bamboo will do but ordinary dip pens are best; you can vary the thickness of the line with the flexible nib. Ink ought to be black and I recommend Acrylic-based ink.
