By Ivy Dunk
“Artists of the Month”
We get to see what members work on at the Thursday Art Evenings and at exhibitions, but it is great to see all the other work they do and have done in the past.

Ivy Dunk

June - Ivy Dunk
Ivy brought in a large selection of her works including watercolour and pastel landscapes & buildings and of course her chalk pastel animals pictures. It was great to see so many of the pictures that Ivy works on at the Thursday Evening sessions, finished and framed.

July - Brenda Carr
Brenda Carr
By Brenda Carr
Brenda studied Art at college as a student and has mainly used watercolours for years but has recently started using acrylics to great effect. Her work was on show at The Old Oak as part of the Arlington Arts Festival and in both the Arlington and Wilmngton Art Shows. Brenda frequently sells her work, allotments and local scenes being the most popular subjects

What’s Next?
August
Berwick Produce Show - We will have a small marquee to show off our work at the Berwick Produce Show (Saturday 27th, 2-5pm) - if you are local to the Berwick or Arlington area and are around for the day to help set up and / or steward please get in touch if you would like to show some of your work.
September
Hailsham Arts Festival - Hailsham Town Council are trying to arrange empty shop space for artists to show work, particularly during the Art Trail week, 9-19th September This would not be like our pop-up gallery last year but would be window space inside empty and locked shops. Artists would be responsibe for displaying their own work (and arranging how to display it) and would need to arrange key collection via the Town Council. There is the distinct possibility that this would extend beyond the festival week. Again, please get in touch if you are interested.

October or November
We would like to have another art show which would include our Secret Art Sale in aid of Chestnut Tree House. If you would like to show work and / or complete a small canvas to donate to the Secreat Art Sale, let me know.
December
We will have our usual Christmas Open Evening with music and nibbles.

COMPETITIONS
Claire Carr

Thursday Art Competition
Every now and then we will choose one of our weekly ‘suggested themes’ to be a competition. In July the theme was ‘Kitchen Sink’ and many rose to the challenge with 15 entries! Everyone had to vote for just ONE picture which was of course very difficult, but the winner was Claire Carr with her composition called ‘Women know your place’!

Paint me a Spring Woodland.
We had over 1000 votes for the entries in the competition while they were on show at this year’s Bluebell Walk. The winners were: Adult, Michael Gower who won a £25 voucher for art materials from Jacksons Art Supplies; Children: 1st prize, Farah Karimi ; 2nd prize, Charlotte Carig ; 3rd prize, Tyler Hammat- all won a selection of art materials thanks to Great Art and the SAA.
