EMAIL: Waterweek in Hailsham - 6 days from 10 March

Please find the information attached about Hailsham WATERWEEK, six days of events which are meant to bring local people together through the water, environmental art, storytelling, films, music, walks ...
All events are free and open for all.
Kind regards

EMAIL FROM: Rachel Grimes - Florist

I am a local, independent florist working in the Meads area of Eastbourne. I have recently started up a series of workshops for adults and children that aim to involve people in the art and therapy of flower arranging and develop basic knowledge and joy of plant growing. As I have recently started to cultivate my own cutting garden I am becoming increasingly keen to engage others with the wonderful world of plants, either through growing or arranging...and beyond!

I wondered if any of the courses I have available would be appealing to the members of your horticultural groups and societies? I have attached PDFs with details of each course I currently have running which I'd be very grateful if you could show to your members, and anyone else you think might be interested! If you would like more information please do get in touch. Each course takes place at the spacious and comfortable Parish Hall in Meads, Eastbourne.

I would also like to offer one-off courses for groups of 6 or more which can be tailored specifically to each group's wishes.

ART SESSIONS

Our first Art Session of 2014 will be on Thursday 9th January, 7-9pm at Arlington Village Hall and sessions will continue every Thursday throughout the year except for 20th Feb, 15th May, 17th July, 18th Sept, 20th Nov, 11th Dec. Fees are £5 per session (£2.50 AAG members, half price for children).

These Art Sessions are a chance to meet up with others and have some regular 'art' time. If you fancy trying out a new medium, the chances are someone in the group will be able to advise you. Likewise, if you are struggling with finishing a piece of artwork or are simply looking for inspiration, we are all keen to help. We are a small, informal, untutored and friendly group and there is no pressure to come along every week. Keep an eye on the websitefor details of our occasional artist's demonstrations and workshops.

We shall continue with our suggested weekly themes based on a famous artist  (please note, this is merely a suggestion and everyone is free to work on whatever they like ) which is a good opportunity to research a little more about the life and times of an artist, to look more closely at their work and to perhaps change your opinion about it!
January artists are listed below - please send us your suggestions for other artists for the rest of the year.

CALENDAR COMPETITION - This year we shall be printing a calendar in October so the monthly competition will be used to choose pictures to feature in the calendar. Bring along a finished painting/drawing on any subject on the last session of each month and we shall vote between us for the winning entry. Some months we shall need to choose 2 winning pieces.
